Cookie policy
A cookie is a small file that a website stores in your browser to remember something about your visit. Here we explain which cookies are used on cabaneros.org, who sets them and how to change your mind.
How to give or withdraw your consent
If you visit from the European Union, the first time a message from Google asks for your consent to the cookies that are not strictly necessary. Until you give it, they are not set. You can change your choice at any time with the “Cookie preferences” link at the foot of every page, and you can also block or delete cookies in your browser’s privacy settings.
Which cookies are used
The site sets no cookies of its own. All of them are Google’s:
- Cookie message (
FCCDCFandFCNEC): they store what you chose in the message, so you are not asked again. They are set whenever you answer. - Google Analytics (
_gaand_ga_XCQK9L7VZP): they count visits and which pages are read, without knowing who you are. Only if you accept statistics cookies. - Google AdSense (
__gads,__gpi,__eoiandIDE): they show ads, limit how often you see the same one and measure their results. Only if you accept advertising cookies.
How long each one lasts is set by Google and explained on its cookies page.
In two cases other companies’ cookies come in, always because of something you do:
- YouTube videos. A video only loads when you click to watch it, and it loads from youtube-nocookie.com, YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode. Once it is playing, YouTube may store data in your browser under its own policy.
- Links to Amazon. Amazon sets no cookies on cabaneros.org. If you follow one of our affiliate links, amazon.es sets its own cookies to know that you came from here.
Google advertising
Google and other providers use cookies to show you ads based on your previous visits to this site or to other sites. Advertising cookies let Google and its partners choose ads based on what you have visited on this site and on other sites on the internet.
You can turn off personalised advertising from Google in My Ad Center, and from other providers at Your Online Choices. To stop Google Analytics counting your visits on any website, Google offers a browser add-on.
What is not a cookie
If you tap “Save for use without signal” on a trail, your browser stores a copy of that page, with its photos, its map and its GPX file, so you can see it without mobile data in the park. It stays on your device and nothing reaches us. You can delete it from Saved routes; otherwise it is deleted automatically after 60 days.
Changes
If we change the cookies the site uses, you will see it here, with the date of the last update at the end.
